Candidates for Juvéderm

Juvéderm is the brand name given to a highly successful and effective facial filler. Facial fillers are a minimally invasive cosmetic surgery treatment that is used to plump out areas of your face that have been affected by the age-related loss of volume and sagging. Juvéderm will fill the fine lines and wrinkles that have formed and tightened the skin so that it appears smoother and more radiant and youthful. It can also be used in the lips, making them appear fuller, plumper, and more luscious.

The main ingredient in Juvéderm is Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that works by binding water to the skin and giving it volume. However, as we get older our natural production of HA reduces significantly. Combined with a similar reduction in collagen and elastin, these changes cause the skin to lose both moisture and volume. As a result, it thins and sags, creating lines, wrinkles and folds that betray our advancing age. However, by reintroducing HA into the body in the form of Juvéderm fillers, it is possible to restore the fullness of your face, helping you to look younger and feel fantastic.

Juvéderm fillers are injected directly into the skin in a short, simple procedure that can be completed during a lunch break. The topical local anesthetic can be administered ahead of your procedure, ensuring that you feel no discomfort while your specialist undertakes the injections. There is no downtime and you should begin to see the results from your procedure almost immediately. While the results are considered to be long-lasting, they are not permanent and you will need additional fillers placed in the future.

Am I a good candidate for Juvéderm?

Before you can be approved for any cosmetic surgery procedure you must first attend a consultation appointment with your chosen specialist. This is not only to ensure that you are healthy enough to undertake the procedure but also so that your specialist can be assured that you are seeking cosmetic surgery for the right reasons and that Juvéderm is the best solution to address the problems that are bothering you.

Good candidates for Juvéderm tend to be patients who have:

  • fine lines, wrinkles or deeper folds around their nose, mouth, and jaw.
  • lines and creases on their forehead.
  • thin or uneven lips and would like to achieve a fuller pout.
  • Mild to moderate acne scarring. This is because Juvéderm can plump the skin so that it stretches, improving the appearance of scars.

However, if you have shown to be allergic to any of the ingredients in Juvéderm fillers, or if you have severe scarring or particularly thin or loose skin, Juvéderm may not necessarily be the right choice of treatment for you. If this is the case, we will be happy to recommend an alternative treatment that can help you to achieve the transformation that you are looking for.
